California Roadless Rule People’s Townhalls: The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to roll back the Roadless Area Conservation Rule—one of the most important protections for our national forests—while limiting public input in the process. Join us for community meetings across the state to learn what this rollback could mean for our local forests, hear from experts and advocates, and stand with others in defense of the wild places we all cherish. Together, we can show that our communities are paying attention—and that we will fight to protect our forests.

May 13, at 11 AM, Sierra Nevada Connectivity Workshop: This interactive working session will focus on advancing Sierra Nevada connectivity priorities, drawing from the California Missing Linkages report alongside updated data and regional insights. Presenters Kristeen Penrod of the Southern California Wildlands and Trish Smith of The Nature Conservancy will guide participants in collaboratively identifying key gaps, needs, and opportunities for action in the region. May 14, at 11 AM, Grassroots Organizing Webinar: Join us to learn about how Conservation Lands Foundation’s Friends Grassroots Network and Nature For All’s leadership development program has been used to protect Public Lands. We will discuss how implementing the promotora models and creating a strong network has been used to organize communities and raise awareness for conservation issues. Register here.

May 19 & 20, Power in Nature Annual Advocacy Day in Sacramento: On the 19th at 4 pm, the coalition will host a reception at Prelude Kitchen & Bar. This reception is an important opportunity to meet with your regional team, organize talking points, and prepare for meetings the following day. On the 20th, we will begin at 8:00 AM at the Pacific Forest Trust at 1107 9th Street. Please plan your flights and travel to accommodate meetings that may extend past 4:00 PM. Registration has closed. If you anticipate scheduling constraints or can no longer make it, let us know by emailing connie@counterbalancestrategies.com.

Expanding on the 2025 Tulare Lake Speaker Series, which explored the past, present, and potential futures of Pa’ashi, the Pa’ashi Coalition has invited water influencers to share their vision for the future of waterways and how their work benefit people and nature. Rooted in our vision for Pa’ashi, this series broadens to learn about contemporary water justice work across California.

Hosted by Sierra Business Council and Sierra Nevada Alliance, Sierra Day at the Capitol brings together advocates from across the region to meet with elected officials and highlight the importance of the Sierra Nevada and Southern Cascades. Together, we share how the region’s watersheds, carbon-storing forests, biodiversity, and world-class recreation opportunities provide vital benefits to the entire state.

Jan 21, Getting Jackson Demonstration State Forest to 30×30
The Far Northern Regional group of the coalition hosted, Melodie Meyer, EPIC’s Conservation Attorney, to learn more about the history of Jackson Demonstration Forest (JDSF) and state demonstration forests in general, why the current commercial logging mandate for state demonstration forests needs to change, and how we can get JDSF and other forests protected under 30×30. Changing the legislative mandate for commercial logging and shifting towards restoration forestry will allow us to add up to 85,000 acres of demonstration forests across the state towards our shared goal of 30×30. This webinar provides an overview of the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) Tribal Consultation Policy and best practices for non-tribal governments, NGOs, and other partners seeking to consult with or engage tribes in the advancement of tribal stewardship. Hear from Agency staff about best practices for conducting early, often, and meaningful tribal consultation and engagement and the role of non-tribal partners in advancing tribal stewardship. 30×30 Outreach Ambassador Training. The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) invites interpreters, partners, advocates, and community leaders to join for a 30×30 Outreach Ambassador Training. This session will prepare participants to share the vision, goals, and opportunities of California’s 30×30 initiative with diverse audiences across the state. This training session aims to educate and empower interpreters to confidently communicate and share 30×30 messages with local communities, stakeholders, and partners.
